How Does It Work?

The Q-switched Nd: YAG laser is primarily used for various dermatological and cosmetic procedures, including laser tattoo removal. It works by targeting specific pigments in the skin, which allows it to focus on the damaged skin cells in the treatment area.

When used for laser tattoo removal, the Q-switched Nd:YAG laser specifically targets the ink pigment in the epidermal layers. It delivers intense bursts of energy in short pulses, which causes the tattoo ink to absorb the energy rapidly. This sudden absorption of energy leads to the ink pigment breaking up into smaller particles.

Once the ink particles are fragmented, the body's lymphatic system can gradually eliminate them. Over a course of treatments the tattoo will fades as the body removes the smaller ink particles. Significant or complete tattoo removal over time will depend on factors such as the tattoo's size, ink color, and depth in the skin.
